The reader-admired translator Anish Das Apu was born on December 5, 1969, in the Barisal district. His father was the late Lakshmi Kant Das. In 1995, this talented writer graduated with honors from the International Relations Department of Dhaka University. During his student days, he began working as a translator for the country's popular and leading weekly, fortnightly, and monthly magazines, translating features, stories, and novels. Anish Das Apu's books are generally thrillers and horror-themed. However, he is also not behind in translating classics and science fiction. Notable works among Anish Das Apu's translations include "Think and Grow Rich," "A Stranger in the Mirror" (Sidney Sheldon), "The Sky is Falling" (Sidney Sheldon), "Selected Mystery Stories" (Alfred Hitchcock), "Shadow of the Werewolf" (Guy N. Smith), "Eleven Minutes" (Paulo Coelho), "Ghost," "Shankhini," "Legend of the Ghost," "Mirror Demon," "Demon House," etc. So far, the number of books he has translated is around four hundred. Anish Das Apu's books have gained tremendous popularity among thriller and horror readers in Bangladesh. He has added a new dimension to writing Western-style horror stories and novels in Bangladesh, achieving significant readership. Although he chose writing as his main profession, Anish Das Apu is also involved in journalism. He has worked as a senior sub-editor for the 'Daily Jugantor' newspaper.
