Professor Dr. Khondoker Abdullah Jahangir Rah was a renowned Islamic scholar, educator, and author from Bangladesh. He was born on November 5, 1958, in Harishankarpur, Jhenaidah Sadar, Jhenaidah District, Bangladesh. Education and Career He completed his madrasa education from Siddikiya Kamil Madrasa, Jhenaidah, and later pursued higher studies in Islamic studies from Islamic University of Bangladesh. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Hadith and Islamic Studies from the same university. Professor Jahangir Rah was a professor of Hadith and Islamic Studies at Islamic University of Bangladesh and also served as the Director of Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies Department. He was a prolific author and wrote over 50 books in Bengali, English, and Arabic on various topics including Islamic theology, jurisprudence, and social issues. Notable Works Some of his notable books include:  Al-Fiqhu al-Akbar” (Major Islamic Jurisprudence)  Al-Mawdu’at” (Islamic Theology)  Islami Dakiat” (Islamic Creed)  Islami Parde” (Islamic Veiling)  Jihadi Islami Nama” (Terrorism in the Name of Islam)  Controversies and Criticisms Professor Jahangir Rah’s book “Jihadi Islami Nama” (Terrorism in the Name of Islam) faced criticism and allegations of promoting extremist ideology. However, his defenders argued that the book was an academic critique of terrorism and aimed to promote a moderate understanding of Islam. Personal Life Professor Jahangir Rah was married to Fatima Abdullah Anwar and had three children, including Khondoker Usama Jahangir, Jakiya Khondoker, Rifat Khondoker, and Busaina Khondoker. Death He passed away on May 11, 2016, in a road accident in Magura District, Bangladesh. Legacy Professor Dr. Khondoker Abdullah Jahangir Rah left a lasting legacy as a scholar, educator, and author.
