Abdul Khalek is a writer, poet, and engineer. Although he is a professional engineer, his literary pursuits began during his school life. He started writing stories, poems, and rhymes from his school days. Since then, his writings have been published in monthly literary magazines. Throughout his student life, he has been regularly engaged in literary activities alongside his studies. He has demonstrated his skills by writing on various subjects including stories, novels, memoirs, poetry, rhymes, travelogues, and religious topics. This writing process of his is still ongoing. He was born in the maternal home in Jotpara village of Mirkutia Union in the Chouhali Upazila of Sirajganj district. His father's name is Munshi Wazed Ali and his mother's name is Begum Tahura Khatun. His ancestral residence is in Khasedeldarpur village of the same union. After completing his primary education in the village, he studied for two years at Rajshahi Collegiate School. He then moved to Tangail, enrolled in Elasin Tarak-Yogendra High School, and passed the SSC examination in 1969 with a first division and three letter marks. In 1978, he earned a BSc Engineering degree in Agricultural Engineering from Bangladesh Agricultural University. Later, he obtained an MSc degree in Environmental Science from Stamford University Dhaka. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (IEB). Shortly after graduating in engineering, he began his first job in 1978. Later, in 1980, he joined the BADC as an Assistant Engineer and retired in 2010 as an Executive Engineer. Currently, he is working as a consultant in the Muhuri Irrigation Project of the Bangladesh Water Development Board.
