John Calvin Maxwell, an American author, speaker, and spiritual advisor, was born in 1947. He primarily writes on leadership. His leadership philosophy is, "Everything rises and falls on leadership," meaning the rise and fall of everything depends on leadership. On his personal website, he elaborates on this philosophy, stating, "So much depends on this philosophy, and that’s why I’ve chosen to make developing leaders at every level my life’s goal. I believe in your ability to influence others and those around you. I also believe that, with the power of influencing others, you can leave behind a large team of leaders made up of people who understand the importance of strong leadership around them." According to statistics from The New York Times, John C. Maxwell's books are currently bestsellers. Additionally, his book Developing the Leader Within You has sold millions of copies. He has sold over 24 million books in more than 50 languages. He is the founder of The John Maxwell Company, as well as the founder of John Maxwell Team and EQUIP, a nonprofit organization that has trained over 5 million young people in leadership across 180 countries. He grew up in Michigan and later earned a Master's in Divinity and a Ph.D. in Ministry from Ohio Christian University. Before establishing himself as a speaker and author, he served as a pastor for more than 30 years.
