Mostofa Arif was born on October 6, 1972, in Sachilapur village of Shreepur Upazila, Magura district. After completing his education, he joined the journalism profession in 1999. He began his career as a sub-editor at the daily Arthoneeti newspaper. From 2002 to April 2004, he worked at News Today, from May 2004 to September 2012 at Daily Naya Diganta, in 2013 at The New Age, and in 2014 at The Daily Observer. His first translated book was The Hundred by Michael H. Hart.
