Sheikh-ul-Islam Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani Renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh-ul-Islam Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani has not only authored numerous books on various Islamic subjects, but he is also an expert in Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), Hadith, Sufism, and Islamic economics. Furthermore, he served as a judge in Pakistan's Central Shariah Court and was a justice on the Shariah Appellate Bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani was born on October 5, 1943, in Deoband, Uttar Pradesh, India. After the partition of India in 1947, his family moved to Pakistan, where they settled permanently. His educational journey includes studies in both Islamic and secular fields. He attended Karachi University, where he earned degrees in economics, law, and political science, and also obtained an M.A. in Arabic language and literature from Punjab University. Additionally, he earned a PhD-equivalent degree in Islamic jurisprudence and fatwas from Darul Uloom Karachi, where he also completed his advanced studies in Hadith (Daura-e-Hadith). In addition to his role as a judge, Mufti Taqi Usmani has served as a specialist in various Islamic subjects such as Fiqh and Islamic economics. He is a permanent member of the International Fiqh Academy and has made significant contributions to the development of Islamic banking in Pakistan by establishing the Meezan Bank, which operates under the principles of Islamic banking. He has authored over 60 books, which have been written in English, Arabic, and Urdu. Among Mufti Taqi Usmani's notable works in English are "Easy Good Deeds," "Spiritual Discourses," "What is Christianity?" and "Radiant Prayers." Some of his well-known works in Urdu include "Tabsere," "Dunya Mere Aage," and "Asan Nekiyan." These books have played an important role in the dissemination of Islamic knowledge and providing insights into various Islamic concepts and discussions.
